Indian troops violate ceasefire near Kotli
No casualties reported from either side of the LoC
ISLAMABAD:
Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing in Jandroot Sector near Kotli on the Line of Control (LoC) Sunday morning, the state-run media reported. This was the fifth ceasefire violation by Indian troops in a series of violations in the region over the last five days.
Quoting the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Radio Pakistan reported that “Pakistan Army responded effectively and silenced the guns of the Indian army”. However, no casualties were reported from either side of the LoC.
However, Indian media claimed that Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the LoC in Mendar Sector of Poonch district of Indian-administered Kashmir. Pakistani troops fired at Indian posts in Krishna Ghati Sector in Poonch and the firing has been going on since morning, NDTV reported. The Indian Army has also retaliated to the heavy firing, the channel added.
Last week, Indian forces started ‘unprovoked firing’ and heavy shelling in Charwa and Bedori Sectors near Bagh. Earlier on July 23, they violated the working boundary in Shakargarh Sector. One civilian was killed in the incident. On July 20, a man was killed in Mirajke after the Indian Border Security Force opened fire.
Indian troops have frequently violated ceasefire.
