ISLAMABAD: Islamabad and Rawalpindi police have finalised security arrangements for the twin cities on Eid.

Police will be deployed at hundreds of mosques, imambargahs and Eidgahs during the Eid prayers.

More than 3,000 policemen will perform security duties in Islamabad. Cops will be deployed at 613 worship places, including 19 open Eid congregations and 26 imambargahs.

In Rawalpindi, 3,500 police officials will guard 712 mosques, 52 imambargahs and 58 Eid congregations in open places. Elite force and quick response force will remain on stand-by to meet any emergency.

Special pickets have been set up at all the entry and exit points.

The bomb disposal squad will conduct checking at various areas and parking will not be allowed near worship places or congregations.

The policemen have been assigned duties at bus stands, graveyards and railway stations.

The policemen would patrol in the various sectors and contingents of Pakistan Rangers and police commandoes will also assist the police. The police have been provided additional vehicles for patrolling.

Keeping in view the rush of visitors at public places, security measures have also been taken at Shakarparian, Daman-e-Koh, Rose and Jasmine Garden, Pir Sohawa, Lake View Park, Chattar Park and the Centaurus mall.

The mobile patrols and squads of Islamabad Traffic Police would also remain present at the prominent points.
