“I would like to draw your kind attention to the recent social and electronic media reports wherein a false allegation has been levelled that I got Arjumand Azhar terminated from his job by using my political pressure,” reads the letter, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, sent by Malik to the Senate chairman on Friday.
Both local and international media have reported that Hussain was fired from his job due to his involvement in PK-370 protest against VIP culture in Pakistan.
Gerry’s International, the company Hussain got fired from, in a statement on Tuesday confirmed that Hussain had been sacked, but ‘purely on merit’ and not for his involvement in the PK-370 incident.
A message posted on the company’s Facebookpage stated the decision had been in the pipeline for some time.

Why don't people of Pakistan bycot company like Gerry's.
@Saqib Nisar: Prejudice and discrimination is rampant in Pakistan even in USA Origin companies... What FedEx USA stated is garbage, and it is eminent that discrimination and prejudice case be filed against this one.. This VVIP culture has made most of the Pakistanis tell lies as these VVIPs are doing so too. FEDEX MUST be aware and wary that soon they will be accountable of their cronies like GERRY and may end up paying millions of dollars in damages. FEDEX, get this sorted out soon before you are dragged in courts. Question is: WHY WAS THIS GUY, MALIK COMING TO BOARD THIS PARTICULAR AIRCRAFT AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN AIR 2.30 HOURS EARLIER. HE KNEW IT WAS ON HOLD FOR HIM. It was company's very wise decision to get rid of this person. His first mistake was that he disrespected a person who had no respect. Secondly, it could become his habit and start beating poor couriers who could not meet delivery time.
why not investigate the inflated electricity bills? How about gang rape by MNA sons? How about against NAB for looking the other way in corruption cases?
if minster or ex minister is concerned for his reputation, best would be for him to be honest and apologize for holding the flight but these politicians in Pakistan do not have the courage and will never do the right thing..

Rehman Malik is simply doing this to protect his own image. The owner of Gerry's himself is a man with political connections.
Mr.Malik, unfortunately you have absolutely no credibility left and it is not beyond you to do the dirty things you do. Who are you hoodwinking? Times are changing in Pakistan and the nation will put you and the ones like you in a place where you people belong. In my opinion Gerry FedEx should be sued for their unlawful termination of Mr.Hussain and above all the consumers should boycott the company and make them hurt financially, this is the only language they will ever understand.
i made a formal complaint on fedex global website. they wrote back and said that they are watching this matter very closely. please lodge your complaint to keep the pressure. fedex global takes ethics very seriously and hence ur support is reqiired.
@ Ricky In most western country and multi corporations does not behave the way PIA and the Minister did, Maybe they should be investigated. Showing a soft corner does not change my belief on VIP Culture and its abuse.
This Parliament will rubber stamp anything that threatens it's members.......and will oppose anything in the interest of the general public.
Mr. Hussain You showed the ability to lead and stand up against unjust practises of bureaucratics norm, Yor are definately made for better things in life, The company you worked for and the ex-minister, are not worth wasting your ltime on. of course... nothing suspicious about the timing at all...This request is nothing but a joke to clear his name. If he is so concerned then he should have requested for the formation of a judicial committee to investigate the termination.....unfortunately the parliamentarians are as corrupt as RM.
Is this the only important issue in the troubled country that concerns the Senator? Or It just prove the point of the masses on the streets of Pakistan demanding Justice (Adl) that the politicians are only concerned about THEMSELVES?
No reputable company wants their executive to be in the limelight in a controversial way let alone be its main character. In most countries and in private organizations such people are not needed. It is to the credit of Malik that he still has a soft corner for Hussain and justice. May be he should have been reprimanded but not let go! Mostly it were the PIA staff that were responsible for the dramatization of the event. They should not have followed the orders of the mob.
