Payback: NAB returns money to cheated clients

The bureau arrested two out of the seven accused company directors and booked them for cheating the public at large

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Director General Irfan Naeem Mangi disbursed cheques amounting to Rs997,374 amongst 27 affectees of a banking scam on Thursday.

M/S Perennials Private Limited, a forex company based in Lahore with a branch office at University Road, Peshawar, violated government regulations and reportedly swindled people out of $241,225 through false profit incentives.


The bureau arrested two out of the seven accused company directors and booked them for cheating the public at large. The accused filed for a plea bargain and volunteered to return the looted money which was distributed on Thursday during a ceremony.


Restaurants sealed

NAB K-P sealed the restaurants Dewan-e-Khas and Coffee Pot in Ladies Club on University Road on Thursday, based on charges of illegal construction. NAB K-P had received a complained earlier that the administration granted a 33-year-long lease based on favouritism and nepotism. The properties were sealed and further investigation is under way.
