Goat heist: Man beaten up for ‘trying’ to steal goat

Lahore police registered 14 cases of goat theft in the city on Thursday

LAHORE: A labourer was thrashed by residents of Batapur on Thursday for allegedly trying to steal a goat from a house.

Police said Kalu Gujjar and his friends said they saw Irshad, a labourer working on a house in the area, trying to steal their goat so they him beat up.

Irshad received serious injuries and was taken to General Hospital where doctors treating him said his condition was critical.

Wagha police post in-charge Sub Inspector Hamid said they would take legal action against Gujjar and his friends as soon as they received a complaint from the victim’s family.

Lahore police registered 14 cases of goat theft in the city on Thursday.

Police said four similar cases were reported in various locations in the city on Wednesday night.

Police said several citizens had complained that unidentified men had snatched goats from children who had taken them out for walks.

In several cases, robbers on motorcycles stopped children, snatched the animals and fled.
