“I was on my way to a grocery store when I saw a car stop by beside a dump a few steps ahead of me… a woman sitting in the back seat tossed a newborn girl into the dump but started weeping,” said witness Muhammad Kazim.
“But she and another woman stepped out of the car and tried to hide the baby girl under the trash lying around,” he told The Express Tribune.
Another witness claimed the two women were trying to bury the newborn alive. However, they fled when people started to gather at the place, he said.
“The baby girl was severely injured… she was bleeding and crying,” Ghaziabad resident Izhar said.“I immediately called Rescue 1122 and rushed to save the child.”
The girl succumbed to her injuries while being moved to Multan’s Nishtar hospital.
Police arrived two hours after the incident and lodged an initial report.

This is not a way to get rid of an "un-wanted" angel and those who saw it happening on site should have immediately responded. And their should be a mechanism implemented in our society to trace the parents of a child by matching the DNA. In this case, if the child has took birth in multan's hospital, the blood samples of the child should be sent to all the hopitals of atleast nearest the garbage site and the case may be further verifed and investigated deligently to reach the culprit. Some thing must be done to prevent this sort of sad incident. We must not let things going the way they are currently. Some of us have to take pain for the better Pakistan of our next generations no matter if we don't see it (better Pakistan) in our life.
When I think we cannot go any lower they surprise and disgust me beyond words. Make no mistake about it, this is happening all too often in our land of pure despite all the teachings, preachings and self praising. Some may still twist it and blame it to the western influence. Hard work, honesty and dedication has not come to us from the west? There are some Pakistanis who would be happy to adopt this baby. One of my cousin had a still birth and she was in bad shape in the hospital. Her husband (in Karachi) replaced the still with a live one from charity. That girl is now grown woman and living happily thereafter. In the US people are willing to wait and spend tens of thousands of $$ to adopt a baby. I know several families who have Korean and Russian girls. However, we would rather kill them in a garbage dump than let them grow up in nice family.
Despicable!! the evils living in our society..
Only if the choice of abortion was available this might not have happened.
got away with it here but it will haunt u all your life and the after life!!!
The sad thing is that there are organisations willing to take unwanted babies such as Edhi. There is simply no excuse to kill an unwanted child. Shameful!
If someone is found throwing away his / her un-wanted baby, he / she should be killed then & there.
Poor baby some ppl are so cruel.sad to see incident.
Very few of such incidents get reported... Such inhumane acts would always be taken lightly when one family gets to rule an area for more than 3 decades...Who can risk life taking stand against a 30 years old rule...I wouldn't say it is sad, This incident is not sad at all... rather sad is the time when people keep silent and welcome this rule again and again..... EVERYONE WILL FACE THE SAME FATE AS VIP IS ONLY FAMILY IN PUNJAB!
Heartbreaking!! If they had decided not to keep the baby then should have put in the baby cart (jhoola) set by Edhi centres all over Pakistan.
As a new mom of a 4 months old, I can't imagine seeing my baby in pain even due to a small scratch. How can a mother throw her baby in a garbage dump? Hence proved that we are living in a society full of psychopaths.
Barbaric to say the least .... Doesn't Edhi operate in Multan? Like someone else who commented .... we are becoming a screwed up nation.
While clicking this link from ET's facebook page, I was praying this wouldnt be in Pakistan:( Astagfirullah, no words to describe the disgust.
These cases are becoming frequent because of out-of-wedlock pregnancies. Just last month a new born baby boy was found in a dump in Karachi.
and no one noticed the car regn number
@Fatima: Ok Police is responsible. But who is mainly responsible? WE. Lets accept this embarrassment. We as society are going through newest lows every day. These rulers, this police is result of our inhuman actions. As long as we wont change ourselves, Nothing is going to change.
They left the baby crying. Allah will make them cry in this world and hereafter.
The women must be hanged at the same place. How can anyone imagine to throw a baby in human. Arn't they human. What will they do on judgement day. They left the baby crying. Don't they have heart! They are not eligible to call themselves human.
Words cannot describe my hate for people that are so selective of birth gender. Even vicious animals are better than them. Our country is a realllly screwed up one.
And we are going back to DARK AGES,,, thanks to all factors who contributed to it and those who cannot fight againt them
So it took the Punjab Police two hours to reach the incident after being reported. Certainly the Punab Police is always on time when it is time to give VIP protocols to Sharif family.
This is shame. Moral degradation of society.
God bless the poor girls souls.
O My GOD, i'm out of words to express my disappointment, this is a sad sad situation. In Pakistan mostly illegitimate adultery leads to such atrocities, may GOD have mercy amen
