Police fund: Welfare of jawans, widows and children top priority

Scholarships worth around Rs145 million were disbursed among 5,006 children in 2013.

Police Inspector General Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has announced that most of the police welfare funds would go towards helping police jawans, and widows and children of martyred policemen. The process of allocating funds for welfare projects was in its final stages.


The scholarship fund for children of policemen will continue. Another higher education financing scheme is also under consideration. The scholarship scheme will include tuition fee, admission fee, registration fee and hostel charges. Scholarships worth around Rs87 million were disbursed among 2,825 children in the last eight months. Scholarships worth around Rs145 million were disbursed among 5,006 children in 2013.
