Tribal clashes: High schoolteacher killed over land dispute

A high school teacher was killed with another man while three others were injured by armed men at Indus Highway near Kambrani Laro, Kandhkot, over a land dispute on Monday evening.


The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the B Section police. A high school teacher identified as Hakim Ali Bhayo was going to the Kaloo Khan Bhayo village from Ghouspur with his nephews in a car. Near Kambrani Laro, a group of armed men, believed to be from the Jakhrani tribe, opened fire at them. Resultantly, Hakim Ali Bhayo and his 10th-grader nephew, Shahfqat Ali Bhayo, were killed on the spot and Sahil Ali Bhayo, Zaib Ali Bhayo and Saif Ali Bhayo were injured. The assailants fled from the scene of crime.

The police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured to the Kandhkot Hospital. Sahil and Zaib were referred to Larkana Hospital in critical condition. No case was registered till filing of this report.

According to a Kandhkot-based journalist, the attack was a result of a 10-year-old dispute between the Bhayo and Jakhrani tribesmen which had sparked over a piece of land. So far, this dispute has claimed more than 50 lives from both tribes, leaving many others injured.
