The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday ordered the capital administration to submit its reply on Thursday over a petition challenging the establishment of a cattle market in the residential area of Sector I-11.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has established a market for sale of sacrificial animals in Sector I-11. However, a resident of the sector, Yasmin Bibi, challenged it seeking its shifting.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui directed Chief Commissioner Zulfiqar Haider to submit a written statement in response to the petition.
The petitioner’s counsel had argued that due to the establishment of the market, residents are facing severe problems. He maintained that it is difficult for residents to carry on with their daily lives as they cannot move freely. He requested the court to order its shifting.
Earlier, at the last hearing on the subject, the court had issued notices to CDA and ICT and sought their replies. CDA had already submitted its reply however, Assistant Commissioner Industrial Area Capt (retd) Shoaib Ali had not appeared before the court which resulted in the court summoning the chief commissioner in person on Tuesday.
The court asked the chief commissioner why the administration was not working properly, saying the top official was appointed recently but things are not in the right direction.
