
Sharing details with the media at a press conference, Superintendent of Police Rawal Division Karamtullah Malik revealed that the police had recovered 32 pistols, 11 kilogrammes of hashish and a large quantity of liquor from the possession of the 26 suspected criminals during the raids conducted in the limits of Waris Khan and Banni police stations.
Malik said the police arrested three members of the Zahir Gang, identified as Zahir, Haseeb and Mehran, who were accused of looting Chinese nationals.
“In addition, the police apprehended three more members of the Babar gang and seized three pistols, cash and a motorcycle from them after receiving information about them from the members of the Zahir gang. The suspects were wanted in several cases of extortion in Sindh and Punjab,” he added.
The police also claimed to have arrested a man, identified as Muhammad Junaid, and recovered eight out of 16 motorcycles that he was accused of stealing from his possession.
CPO Humayun Bashir Tarar has constituted special teams in order to control the crime rate in Rawalpindi.
