DHO Dr Syed Ali Khan said there is no need to fear that dengue patients would succumb to the virus in Swat this year.
Addressing a news conference at Swat Press Club on Saturday, Khan said the best way to tackle the virus was to care for the patients. He added the district health office was actively involved in controlling the spread of dengue with the help of the provincial and district administrations.
According to Khan, in 2013, a dengue outbreak infected 6,376 people with 32 deaths in Swat. “However, this year, just 202 cases were identified in the valley and no death occurred,” he said.
The officer appreciated the practical measures taken by the provincial government to reduce the impact of dengue this year. “When the data of 2013 and 2014 is compared, it clearly shows that the collective efforts of the administration and the people of Swat ensured there were no casualties in the valley this year,” added Khan.
