Stags record first victory in Group D to move third

Panthers win fourth consecutive match to continue perfect record.



KARACHI: Muhammad Yasir’s maiden T20 half-century powered Bahawalpur Stags to a convincing seven-wicket win over defending champions Lahore Lions in their Group D fixture of the National T20 Cup at the National Stadium of Karachi.

Chasing 141, Yasir slammed eight fours and two sixes in a 41-ball 57 as Stags reached their target with 14 balls to spare. Azhar Ali was the pick of the bowlers with two for 36.

Batting first, Lions were restricted to 140 for the loss of six wickets as Abdul Rehman claimed three scalps, giving away 24 runs in the process. Skipper Ali also led from the front with the bat, making 46 for the Lions.

Panthers keep up perfect record

Superb bowling from Imran Khan helped Peshawar Panthers defeat Faisalabad Wolves by 11 runs to make it four wins out of four in Group C.

Chasing 140, Misbahul Haq’s 36 proved to be in vain as Wolves were eventually bowled out for 128 in 19.4 overs as Imran took four wickets for 20 runs in a four-over spell.

After being put in to bat, Rafatullah Mohmmand’s 43 off 21 balls helped Panthers post a respectable 139 as Imran Khalid and Muhammad Talha took two wickets each.

Eagles lose third on the trot

Babar Azam guided Islamabad Leopards to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Lahore Eagles in their Group C match.



Chasing 132, Leopards reached their target in 17.2 overs as Azam struck a 35-ball 51, while opener Afaq Rehman scored 41 off 21 balls.

Earlier, Eagles were restricted to 131-6 as Umar Gul claimed three wickets, giving away only 24 runs. The Eagles batting order failed as only three batsmen managed to reach double figures, with Sami Aslam top-scoring with 51.
