Billing woes: Reply sought from tax ombudsman
Justice Khan directed the ombudsman to file a reply by October 15 after the conclusion of arguments.
LAHORE:
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from the federal tax ombudsman on a petition filed by the Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) regarding the ombudsman’s interference in its bill recovery process. The counsel for the petitioner told the court that the ombudsman had been issuing orders on alleged instances of miscalculated bills. He said that the ombudsman had passed orders that went beyond his constitutional jurisdiction. The counsel requested the Lahore High Court to instruct the provincial ombudsman to stop interfering in the matter. Justice Khan directed the ombudsman to file a reply by October 15 after the conclusion of arguments.
