Search under way: Five abducted from Bugti tribal territory

Govt official was travelling with 4 other persons when a group of assailants intercepted their vehicle near Maro area

QUETTA: Gunmen kidnapped five people, including a patwari, from the troubled Maro area of Bugti tribal territory, a Levies official in Dera Bugti told The Express Tribune on Monday. He said that the government official Ataullah was travelling with four other persons when a group of assailants intercepted their vehicle near Maro area, about 14 kilometres away from Dera Bugti. “The armed men took away five people.” “Balochistan Levies is carrying out a search operation in the area,” said another official at Levies Thana Dera Bugti. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the kidnappings. Meanwhile, a schoolteacher was kidnapped by armed men from the suburbs of Turbat. According to Balochistan Levies, the government high school’s teacher, identified as Rafiq Oman, was on his way to work when a group of armed men intercepted his vehicle in Dasht area of Turbat.
