With performances by 10 Indian and international talents, the show will be telecasted on Colors. Shahrukh said he will host the show just the way he hosts a Filmfare Awards function. “It’s a live show. It’s not a television show as people are assuming that I am back on television,” Shahrukh clarified.
“This is a live show and I really like it [the concept],” said Shahrukh. “You get a stage where you can showcase people of different talents. I am hosting it for a couple of hours,” he added. The superstar, who became popular with his TV show Fauji, enjoyed greater success in the movie industry and his fame rose to heights that won him titles such as ‘King Khan’ and ‘Bollywood Badshah’.
He returned to his roots to host the third season of game show Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2007. The 48-year-old also hosted Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? (2008) and Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout (2011).
Commenting on talent shows, Shahrukh said, “I like Britain’s Got Talent and India’s Got Talent. I see people on these shows and some of them are amazing.” Interestingly, the trailer launch of his upcoming film Happy New Year saw a performance by ‘Fictitious Dance Group’, which once participated in India’s Got Talent.
“So, I guess they have World’s Got Talent and they will go to different countries every year and take the world’s top 10 talents from Britain, Australia and India. It is interesting that [such a show] will happen in India, so I said yes [to host it],” he shared.
Got Talent World Stage Live, executed by Cineyug, is an on-ground extension of Colors’ marquee talent show India’s Got Talent. The format was created and is owned by Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and is co-produced by FremantleMedia India.
