Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi withdrew an application against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers who allegedly attacked his residence last month.
Talking to media outside his home, he said he wanted to promote Sufism and peace in the country’s politics, and would not pursue the case against the district leadership of PML-N. “Our war is not with personalities but with corruption and status quo in the country and I have no personal enmity with any political leader,” he added.
On August 20, PML-N workers staged a protest outside Qureshi’s house where a stick wielding mob pounded the residence’s main gate. Seventeen members of PML-N, including the district president Bilal Butt, were nominated in an FIR.
Bilal Butt, nicknamed Billu Butt by his opponents, said while speaking to the The Express Tribune “it is a just decision as we were never part of any attack on the house of Shah Mehmood Qureshi … In fact there was no attack on the residence and it was only a massive demonstration against him for initiating a campaign to derail democracy in the country.”
