Heinous crime: RPO takes notice of sexual exploitation

FAISALABAD: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ehsan Tufail on Wednesday took notice of a maid’s gang-rape by a landlord’s son and his friend.

Zulfiqar, the victim’s father, said she had been working as a maid at the residence of Muhammad Ali* in Chak 405-JB for several years. He said Ali, the landlord’s son, and his friend Saeed had been raping her for the past seven months.

Zulfiquar said they had tried to force her into having an abortion after they realised that they had impregnated her.

He said they had threatened the girl of dire consequences if she revealed anything to anyone. Zulfiquar said he had approached the police after she informed him about the matter.

He said the police were reluctant to take action against the culprits as Ali was related to a lawmaker. Zulfiquar said the police had deliberately delayed proceedings to enable him to escape abroad.

He said the police were intimidating them into compromising with the culprits’ families.

Chitiana station house officer said a case had been registered against them and Nadeem had been taken into custody.

Tufail took notice of the incident on Wednesday and directed the Toba Tek Singh district police officer, the Kamalia deputy superintendent and the Chitiana station house officer to probe the allegations transparently and arrest the men immediately.

Justice delayed justice denied. Immediate action should be taken by district government. No one is above the law.
