LAHORE: An orientation session for intermediate students was held at the Government College University (GCU) on Monday. The ceremony was held at the Bukhari Auditorium. GCU Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rahman said that it was the responsibility of the youth to steer the country in the right direction. “The youth should take up their responsibilities seriously to ensure the development of the country,” he said. He advised the students to contribute towards the betterment of society. “It is up to the individual to take the initiative instead of lamenting the circumstances,” he said. Dr Rahman said the university had a long history of producing illustrious students who went on to make major contributions to all branches of knowledge. “You should follow in the footsteps of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Dr Abdus Salam, Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Dr Samar Mubarakmand, all of whom were distinguished Ravians,” he said. “You can serve your motherland by focusing on your studies,” he said.
