Eco-friendly : Workshop held on climate change

LAHORE: The world is running out of water resources and the average temperature of Earth has risen due to concentration of greenhouse gases (GHG) over the past few decades, said a participant at a workshop on Approaches to Climate Sensitive Growth on Monday. The workshop was organised by Individualland Pakistan in collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. Participants discussed causes and effects of climate change and the role of media in highlighting the issue. “The world has shifted its focus towards climate change when it has started affecting the lives of humans across the world,” the participant said.  Two short documentaries on the effects of climate change were screened at the workshop. Member of Provincial Assembly Sardar Vickas Mokal discussed the government’s efforts in promoting use of renewable energy across the country. One of the participants said it was every individual’s responsibility to change their lifestyle and be eco-friendly. “Climate change is a reality. The government must subsidise equipment to produce energy through renewable energy resources.”Journalists from Lahore, Multan, Muzaffargarh and Kot Addu participated in the workshop. Sundas Syeda and Zulfiqar Haider of Individualland moderated the session.
