Explosive materials: Court remands suspect to police custody

KARACHI: The anti-terrorism court-I (ATC-I) remanded a suspect, Muhammad Parvaiz, to police custody till September 27, in an explosive materials case. Police had produced the accused before the ATC-I judge under tight security. The investigation officer told the court that the police needed his physical custody to trace his connections and other accomplices. The court accepted the police’s request and remanded the accused to police custody till September 27. According to the police, the accused was apprehended during snap checking within the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police Station on September 13. Police claimed to have seized a hand grenade from his possession. An FIR no. 219/2014 was registered under Section 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act at the Sohrab Goth police station.
