Bad cops : Protest against police for ‘patronising prostitution den’
Hundreds of residents of Satiana Road on Sunday staged a protest demonstration against the police for “patronising a prostitution den.”
The protesters gathered at the Satiana-Faisalabad Road and blocked it for traffic.
Hafiz Javaid Iqbal, a student, led the demonstration.
He alleged that Bano*, a resident of the area, was running a prostitution den.
“Bano is beautiful and she has joined hands with other pretty girls,” he said. “Together, they are running a prostitution ring.”
He said the police were not taking action against immoral activities going on their colony. He said several complaints had been lodged with Saddar police station but nothing had come of them.
“Every month, police officials visit den. They take money from them and leave after enjoying the company of pretty girls,” he said.
Ghulam Hussain, another protestor said on Saturday evening, he was passing by the den when a policeman came out and asked him to go inside and fetch his belt.
“The policeman was drunk and got angry when I refused.” he said. Hussain said the policeman beat him up. He said several people gathered on the scene and rescued him from the policeman who fled after threatening them of dire consequences. He said when he went with his relatives to the police station to register a complaint against him, officials present refused to lodge a complaint and take action against him. The protestors chanted slogans against the police and demanded immediate action against the prostitution den and police officials patronising it. On receipt of information, Madina Town superintendent led police contingent to the scene and pacified the protestors by assuring them that action would be taken against the police officials involved.
The demonstrators then dispersed peacefully.
