Judicial Conference approves Islamabad declaration

ISLAMABAD:

The National Judicial Conference (NJC) unanimously adopted the Islamabad declaration on Monday.

It emphasised that each state institution must work within its domain and not interfere in the affairs of others.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry presented the declaration at the end of the three day conference held in the Supreme Court building. He remarked that confrontation among state institutions will be counter-productive and hamper develoment.

The CJP proposed that the standard of legal education must improve as it provides a foundation to the justice system of the country.

He also said that an e-court must be established at each high court and district court for speedy justice.

CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry asked the house to ensure implementation of the recommendations that 8 groups had presented earlier in the day.
