ISLAMABAD: Some 226 Pakistani workers have been released following their detention in Libya, Pakistan Embassy official in Tripoli said on Friday. A Foreign Office spokesperson said that since March 2014, out of a total number of 300 detained Pakistanis, the release of 226 has been ensured. She said this figure is unprecedented, both, if compared with previous figures of release of Pakistani prisoners in the past, as well as in comparison to any other expatriate community in Libya. The spokesperson said while the on-going evacuation operation for bringing back the thousands of stranded Pakistanis in Libya is in full swing, due attention is also being paid to secure the release of detained Pakistanis in Libya. She said the embassy will continue to work for the release of all imprisoned Pakistanis in the strife torn country and ensure their safe repatriation.
