Armed assault: Three guards injured in hand grenade attack

Another explosion near grid station causes partial damage to a boundary wall.

Three security guards were injured in a hand grenade attack in Lower Orakzai Agency on Friday morning.


According to an official of the political administration, the incident took place around 5am when unidentified militants lobbed a hand grenade at a room in Anjani Bazaar. The grenade went through the window and exploded.

An official of the Kalaya hospital revealed the injured have been identified as Suleman Khan, Gul Khan and Nadir Khan who are residents of Anjani. He added they are in a critical condition. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Grid station damaged

An explosion near a grid station of Kalaya headquarters in Orakzai caused partial damage to a boundary wall on Friday morning.

An official of the political administration said unidentified militants placed the explosive device in a vegetable sack near the boundary wall of the grid station. A loud explosion was heard when the device went off, however, no casualties were reported.

Security forces cordoned off the area immediately and launched a search operation.

According to the official, the attack was either targeting officials of the political administration or Orakzai Scouts.
