Karachi Water and Sewerage Board should fulfil its agreement to supply at least 12 millions of gallons per day to CBC.

KARACHI: The Association of Defence Residents (ADR) has put forward certain demands to redress the prevalent water crisis in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA). Due to an allegedly artificial shortage of water in the area, the residents have been left at the mercy of the ‘tanker mafia’, which is minting billions of rupees out of their misery. To make matters worse, Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has been annually increasing the water charges by around 10 per cent without confiding in the residents or even the board member and DHA representative, Aziz Suharwardy. On behalf of all the DHA residents, the ADR has put forward certain demands. The CBC must immediately reverse the increase in water charges as they are contrary to the decision of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defence, demanded the ADR. Moreover, the CBC must redress water leakage. Also, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board should fulfil its agreement to supply at least 12 millions of gallons per day to the CBC.
