Cautious optimism: ‘Multan city safe from floods’
The minister said nearly 600,000 cusec water was released from Head Tareemon.

Minister for Prisons Abdul Waheed Arain on Thursday ruled out threats of flooding in Multan city. He said 500,000 cusec water was expected to pass through Chenab between Thursday and Friday. Talking to newsmen after visiting Basti Muhammad Pur Ghutta, Head Muhammadwala and Akbar Flood Bund with DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal, he said Head Muhammand Wala Bridge had a capacity to store 800,000 cusec water. He said breaches in protective bunds will be made under extreme circumstances. He said people and livestock near the river had been moved to safer places.
The minister said nearly 600,000 cusec water was released from Head Tareemon. He said water levels were decreasing.
