Printing press owner serves legal notice on PTI chief Imran Khan

Private press owner rebuts allegations made by Imran that he printed fake ballot papers for the 2013 elections

September 11, 2014

ISLAMABAD: A private printing press owner from Lahore has sent a legal notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for 'falsely' accusing him of printing fake ballot papers for the 2013 general elections.

“My client categorically rebut(s) the allegations as incorrect, and states on oath that my client did not print the alleged ballot papers for the 2013 elections,” said the defamation notice, which was also sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The counsel of M/s S. Shaukat Noor Printers said his client was being criticised and humiliated in the public domain, and was being termed as a conspirator following a press conference given by Imran.

PTI had also accused the Punjab election commissioner of having millions of fake ballot papers printed from a private printing press to be used for rigging.

"You have simply made your accusation on your own presumption without any substance,” the counsel said in the legal notice, adding that false accusations, which cannot be supported by any evidence, were levelled against his client.

The counsel asked the PTI chief to withdraw his allegations and to clarify that his statement was based on false information, as well as to exonerate his client for all kinds of accusations within 15 days of receipt of notice.
