Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to the flood-hit areas of Havayli in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was postponed on Wednesday. AJK Rehabilitation Minister of Abdul Majid Khan told The Express Tribune that the prime minister’s visit to Havayli was cancelled due to bad weather. He said premier Sharif will visit the flood-hit areas on Thursday if weather allows.
Meanwhile. AJK Food Secretary Idrees Tabassum directed the administrations of Hattain Bala and Chakar to dispatch flour and other essential commodities to remote areas which are still cut-off due to the landslide. The stranded people of the areas are facing problems to reach Chakar town.
Tabassum, who is also commissioner of Muzaffarabad Division, issued the directives during his visit to Chakar, some 60 kilometres from here to take stock of food shortage in the landslide-hit areas.
He was briefed by officials who told him there is no immediate shortage of food in the area.
