Education is vital for the progress of the country and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has made education a policy priority, said Cooperatives Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar on Tuesday.
He was addressing a ceremony held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to distribute certificates and cash prizes among graduating students who had secured the top positions.
“Students are the future of our country. They will put our country on the path to success and prosperity. Economic stability is not possible without success in the field of education,” the minister said.
He said that Pakistani students were very talented. “The provincial government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, is taking revolutionary steps in the education sector. We have launched a universal education campaign for enrolling all children in schools,” he said.
Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Tariq said that the country needed an educated workforce to prosper. “The prosperity of a nation is directly proportional to the level of education there. Our government has adopted a comprehensive strategy to promote education,” he said.
Cash prizes of Rs20,000, 15,000 and 10,000 were awarded to position-holders.
According to the results announced by Controller of Examination Imtiaz Sukhera, the first position was secured by Muhammad Shahid Shaheen of Best College of Computer Sciences and Humanities with 681 marks, second position was secured by Ahmad Razzaq with 670 marks and third position was secured by Iqra Basheer with 665 marks.
In BSc, Syeda Kainaat secured the first position with 727 marks, Hafiza Sana was on second position with 719 marks and Hamza Afzal was on the third position 717 marks.
In the BCom examination, the first position was secured by Muhammad Saqib, second by Muhammad Kashif and the third position was secured by Aqsa Fatima.
