The Pakistani team was there to take part in a SAARC golf tournament while the 17-member Nepalese team was there for official work, army officials said in New Delhi.
According to India Today, the army has deployed more than 20,000 troops in 220 columns for rescue operations and asked all its units deployed there to help out people in distress. The Indian Air force has pressed 61 aircraft in action for the purpose.
The devastating floods trigged by the torrential rains are said to be one of the worst in 50 years. So far some 200 people died in the deluge and thousands of people were still stranded.
In order to meet the shortage of food in flood-affected areas, cooked eatables are being sent from Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad on a large scale.

@Udaya Bose: We must remember that the whole truth the good and bad is more important so we can learn lessons from it.
If Pakistani visitors where on Indian Land , it was moral duty of Indians to save their lives. "Athithi devo bhav "..how can one forget the essence of our culture So no special thanks in that sense I suppose. But yes thanks to Armed forces for their effort for saving lives irespective of their nationality, faith, language or region.
some people can say it was job of Armed forces to save lives, yes indeed it might have been, but what is the point in being thankless to the hilt.
A little bit of appeciation can do a wonders to any bodys morale...
Keep up the good work Army! ( on either side of borders)
@WISPR: You are right. We must remember all good turns.
@Syed Jalal Kashmiri: Stop the lies, please. What you state is untrue, the Indian armed forces helped us. Where were the Jihadi's etc.?
@Indian: Peace has not broken out since we allowed people to people contact. It is a falsehood to think otherwise. We are mortal enemies.
Rescuing foreigners but leaving Kashmiris to drown. This is typical India which prefers PR to the lives of human beings (and Kashmiris are less than human being according to them). Wish Pakistan army was in Srinagar, they would help us.
@ Azi
Why 'Nakee kar aur thanks maang' ? This story is published by E.T. and not by indian military journal in Pakistan. Be reasonable brother. Do you know that soldiers died in the rescue operations ? How is that 'nakee kar aur thanks maang' ? They laid down their lives to save people in the Kashmir valley.
Thank you India, and shut up call to those who are saying that why Pakistani players were playing there. Professionals are professionals whether they are Pakistani golf players, Nepalese officials or Indian officials who rescued them.
@WISPR From Gulf of Adan to Entire Indian Ocean, From Diago Garcia & Madagascar to South China sea & up to Pacific ocean boundaries Indian navy is the Largest Anti Pirate Patrolling Unit. Indian navy have deployed 16 Naval Warships with 26 Helos on board. Saved a lot of ships, sailors from almost all Asian countries as well as 3 russian & 1 American ships, Alone in 2013 Indian navy have arrested more than 143 Pirates. The day when Indian navy hold all of Its operation all shipping lanes passing through Indian Ocean & Gulf Of Adan will be Exposed to a High Risk. (India contributes 83% for Indian Ocean & Gulf of Adan safety) so say thanks to India Google all details
Thanks. 2 of the members were of my family and thank God they are alive as we were so worried.
@QWERTY:
Whole debate started when Indians wanted a thanks and not sure from where they got this idea that Pakistanis were not thankful but they did. You know a phrase, "Nakee karr, deryaa main dal". To them its more like Nakee karr aur thanks mang.
Either ways I do agree with your statement of own relatives in rescue efforts. Same goes for fanboys itching for wars.
@Azi: Rescuing women and children is common procedure all over the world. The actual order is injured, elderly and children, but since mothers may not let go of their children, the mothers are usually rescued as well.
All of India is involved in the search and rescue mission in Jammu & Kashmir. Today I found that the government of my state of Karnataka has paid Rs. 5 crores (around PKR 80 million) for J&K relief which is many times the PKR 2 million paid by China to Pakistan. However many Kashmiris instead of helping their brethren are being arm-chair critics. J&K CM is nowhere to be seen, he just mouths platitudes on TV once in a while. Hurriyat, etc. have gone into hiding. Yesterday, Kashmiris pelted stones at NDRF (National Disaster Rescue Force) personnel when they shifted their rescue efforts from a Sunni to a Shia area. One can see though that the ordinary people of J&K are grateful and all of this is bound to reflect in the next elections.
@Azi The right response to that article, by any sane person, would be:
Never ever visit that website again.
http://kashmirwatch.com/news.php/2014/09/10/indian-army-rescue-women-leaving-men-to-die.html
Leaving men to die and only rescuing women. Very selective rescuing there, what guarantee is there that those men are not injured, able to swim, save themselves? Rescue efforts should be for everyone not specific gender. We all know from the world's eyes how much care and love there is for women in india. Still feeling proud?
Where was Indian army when Pakistan rescued Indian fishermen from Somali pirates? Or when one IA person slipped into Pakistan border with the river? Why the news of Pakistani golf team making news? What else was the option? Leave specific people in floods based on their I'd cards and rescue others. Gentlemen here you can see Indians insecurities for a thanks when they never reply in kind. But if it makes you guys feel better about self. Here you go, "Thanks"
There is a saying in India - "Neki kar darya me daal". Saving lives of humans and animals is an act of humane, kundness and heroism. Expecting to hear "thanks" for the heroic act is trivializing the rescue efforts. When it comes to human, there is no hindu or muslim, no indian or pakistani... just humans.
Nothing unusual in this act . The Indian Army is highly professional and very motivated. I am sure as a professional army ,the Pakistan Army would have done the same
@ Sunil Yes,we do need...it helps with peace keeping measures.
Thank you neighbour! God bless.
Do we need to have Pakistani's playing or visiting India? I feel such things need to be stopped.
@ Vish, remember who saved them Indians from Somali pirates.
They did their job. Indian armed forces are best. Jai Hind!
Proud of our INDIAN Army...
Another proof of Nawaz Sharif's anti Pakistan pro India policy. This visit of some trash golf team amounts to accepting the disputed state as part of India!! WAKE UP PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN!!
Thanks pakistan caring for us. we were deluded thus far that ppl of pak have a soft corner for us. Indian army has done wonders here
Are they really the Pak national team? Maybe it is the senior team, since Indian Express story on this mentions a 57 yr old lady and a 62 yr old gentleman from Nisar Colony, Lahore Cantonment. Also, this gem:
"The first question many asked after being rescued Monday morning was the status of Imran Khan-led siege in Pakistan."
Not a atleast one thanks from you people for saving your player by my army.... but hats of to you my army
