LAHORE:

Opposition Leader in the Provincial Assembly Mehmoodur Rahsid said on Monday instead of wasting taxpayers’ money on holding a joint session of the parliament the government should provide relief to flood-hit people.

He said the PTI had formed committees to collect and send relief goods to the affected.

“The committees will collect funds and relief items and send them to flood-hit areas.”

Rashid said the situation would have been better had Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif implemented the recommendations of the one-man judicial commission regarding the 2010 floods.

“Deaths could have been averted and losses reduced,” he said.

“Why has Justice Mansoor Ali Shah Commission report not been made public?” he asked.
