In solidarity: ‘Rs100m released for relief efforts’

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Relief Commissioner Nadeem Ashraf on Sunday said Rs100 million had been released by the Punjab government for relief efforts in flood-hit areas. He was addressing a meeting on relief activities. He said district administrations should inform the government about things needed to cope with flood emergencies. Ashraf said water level had begun to recede in some areas. He said 126 relief camps had been set up in flood-hit areas where food and medicines were available for 278 people. He said nearly 22,883 animals had been moved to safer locations. Ashraf said 23,700 tents, 126 boats, 54,636 water bottles and 36,500 food had been provided to administrations of flood-hit districts. He said district administrations of the province had been directed to compile reports about damages to houses. He said strict action would be taken against departments showing negligence during relief operations.
