IDPs from both North and South Waziristan have given a seven-day deadline to the government to send them back home. The displaced families have threatened to protest indefinitely in front of the Parliament if their demand is not met.
This was stated by elders of Waziristan and officials from Mehsud tribes at a news conference at Bannu Press Club on Sunday.
An operation has been under way in South Waziristan for the past seven years and almost 1 million people from the agency have been forced to live miserable lives in different parts of the country, said the elders. And now 1.2 million people of North Waziristan are also displaced, they added.
The IDPs demanded the president, prime minister, army chief and K-P governor help expedite the return of IDPs from both agencies to their native villages within seven days. Otherwise, they said, Wazir, Mehsud and Dawar tribes will march to Islamabad and sit in front of the Parliament until their demands are met.
