FAISALABAD: A new crime scene investigation unit has been established at the Faisalabad police department to collect evidence from crime scenes on modern scientific basis. Talking to The Express Tribune on Saturday, City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Sohail Habib Tajik said that the 13 police circles had been attached with the new investigation unit. “If this pilot project remains successful, it will be expanded to other parts of the province,” he said. The CPO said the unit staff had been trained to utilise equipment brought from the US. “Fifty-two police officers have been trained to work in the crime scene investigation unit. They have been provided with laptops, digital cameras and other gadgets for recording finger prints and taking blood and DNA samples,” he said.
