Modernising The City: Area around Custom House to be developed

KARACHI: City administration, in collaboration with the Pakistan Customs collectorate and philanthropists, embarked upon the ‘Custom House Neighbourhood Development Project’ on Friday. Karachi commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that the area around Custom House, stretching from Karachi Port Trust Building to Hindu Mandir, will be modernised and turned into a pedestrian-only zone. Architects Shahid Abdullah and Danish Zuby are designing the project. Industrialists and the corporate sector have pledged to contribute to the estimated Rs70 million it will cost to complete the first phase.
