RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) sealed two places during dengue inspection on Saturday. EPA District Officer Mian Mohammad Nawaz told APP that teams inspected 14 tyre shops, 13 junkyards, a nursery and four under-construction buildings. He said strict action is being taken against violators of government orders to prevent the spread of dengue larva. EPA teams also removed stagnant water from four dengue breeding sites while they also found dengue larva at one site. Nawaz said tyre shops, hotels, restaurants, nurseries, under-construction sites and other vulnerable points are regularly being checked for dengue. The teams declared 30 sites clear of dengue larva. Health officials fear the recent rains and subsequent stagnant water will lead to a rise in the number of dengue cases in the region.
