In a prepared statement given to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Aziz said, “The Chinese advance team which was here last week witnessed these disturbances and formed obvious conclusions about the unfortunate security situation created by these two parties.”
He also said an official statement declaring the postponement would be issued by both China and Pakistan, simultaneously. However, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that the ministry had made no formal announcement of the visit in the first place. “So, there is no basis to say we are about to cancel anything,” the spokesperson said.
Aziz was keen to point out that the decision was not to ‘cancel’ but to ‘postpone’.
“We are in touch with the Chinese government on possible dates so that we can redeem this situation and bring back the focus to the projects that were to be launched during the visit of the Chinese president,” Aziz said.
Both Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri, who have been leading the sit-ins in Islamabad since August 14, have denied any responsibility for the decision. “It is the government’s fault that it is unable to provide security to its own people, let alone the Chinese president,” Qadri said in a speech on Thursday.
On Thursday, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal angrily said in a speech that Pakistan has lost valuable investors because of the political turmoil.
“Pakistan has become a laughing stock,” Iqbal said.

Read the third question and answer
The date for visit was not confirmed my Chinese ministry yet so how come Pak government is issuing statements about cancellation or postponement......this govt is nothing but all bunch of liars, they have lost all credibility morally, legally, ethically and administratively to rule this country.
Funny - Pakistan says visit of Chinese President postponed/cancelled. Chinese say there was no visit planned - so there was nothing to postpone/cancelled!! Pakistanis make mundane things so complicated that it gets funny!
However, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that the ministry had made no formal announcement of the visit in the first place. “So, there is no basis to say we are about to cancel anything,” the spokesperson said.
hahahaha
@Qahaar: Does that make any sense? Violent protesters who caused unrest and damage to the economy should be blamed for what they did and removed from the capital. What message did they send to the world? A few thousand protesters with sticks and stones trying to force an elected government to resign. No PM should ever resign in the face of such nonsense since this would encourage bands of violent protesters to do this again and again.
Checked Chinese government. Ministry of Foreign Aff air press briefing of Sept. 05,2014 . The spokesperson denied that that there is any visit . Please check Chinese ministry web site question no. 2 or answer of second question .
So, who is telling the truth? The Chinese or Aziz? Was it ever on or not?
@Qahaar: If you dont let the elected government function, as has been the case with the planned attack on democratic instutitions by traitors Imran Khan and Qadri, then you have no right to have a democracy.
Anyone with an appropriate "Chinese proverb" for this situation....??? C'mon.... where are all the brainy-trolls when you really need them...?
Key point is that no visit was planned - as the Chinese Foreign Ministry has said. Pakistan was hoping that the Chinese President would visit Pakistan on his way back from India, but that is not likely to happen. Now different political parties can trade blame over an imaginary visit that now stands cancelled.
@Qahaar: " If you cannot provide security to your citizens and foreign dignitaries" ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ when the third umpire says do not use force how to ensure security? depend on the healing power of prayers?
Look who woke up from hibernation
If you cannot provide security to your citizens and foreign dignitaries then you don't have the right to rule this country, period.
