NAUDERO: Three Class VI students fainted at the Government Girls High School on Monday due to the heat and non-availability of ceiling fans. This is the second time such an incident has occurred. On hearing that Sania Mirani, Aiza Bharchoond and Sawera Mirani had fainted, Headmistress Haseena Khuhro immediately called for a doctor for treatment, after which they regained consciousness and were sent home. Other students said that the ceiling fans were either out-dated or burnt-out, but the government had not replaced them despite requests. “There were 358 students registered in the five-classroom school,” said Khuhro. “Each class therefore had about 71 students.” She added that loadshedding occurred every morning, making it difficult for students to work. “Five more classrooms have been under construction for the last five years,” said Khuhro, adding that the government must complete them so that the classrooms could be less congested.
