Pindi arts council: Sufi night concludes ‘Azadi’ celebrations

The Niaizi brothers sang a kafi written by famous poet Azam Chishti.

Events in connection with independence celebrations came to an end at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Sunday night when renowned singers, Javed Niazi, Babar Niazi and Ghulam Abbas Farasat performed at a musical night.


RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed was present at the occasion, among a high number of music lovers from the twin cities.

The night started with Farasat’s performance, the classical singer from Lahore who is also the assistant director of the Punjab Council of the Arts. His rendition of a kafi written by Sufi saint Khawaja Ghulam Fareed mesmerised audiences.

He paid tribute to legendary singer Mehdi Hassan by singing his song “Ko ba Ko Phail Gae” and sang a gazal written by Hafiz Jalandhri.

Next on the stage was the winner of the pride of performance awards and popular folk singers Javed Niazi and Babar Niazi, who started with a munqabat “Main Parhdan Qaseeda Maula Ali da”. They also paid rich tribute to their father, legendry singer Tufail Niazi, by singing his famous folk song “Mahi Ve Tere Wekhan Lai, Chuk Charkha Gali Wich Danwan”.

The Niaizi brothers then sang a kafi written by famous poet Azam Chishti.
