On Monday, police said Qudratun Nissa, the 55-year-old widow of Abdul Khanan, a resident of Dhoidiari Baffa, was visiting her relatives in Shinkiari. An unidentified assailant or assailants murdered her, slitting her throat and dumping her body in a nearby forest, added police officials.
According to Qudratun Nissa’s family members, the widow had no enemies.
Another murder was reported from Garhi Habibullah on Monday. A teenage reportedly shot his younger cousin dead in Changli village.
Asia Bibi, the mother of 10-year-old Habib, told the police her son had left their house to go to the shops in the village with his cousin Haseeb. On their way to the shops, 15-year-old Haseeb shot Habib, severely injuring him. Habib was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his wounds before he could be administered first aid.
No clear motive had been ascertained till this report was filed.
The weekend saw more violence in Garhi Habibullah as a teacher was robbed and beaten up early Sunday morning.
The police said Master Ghulam Mustafa, a resident of Sarla Bagla, reported he was woken up after someone knocked at the main gate of his house. When Mustafa opened the door, two robbers barged in and held the family at gunpoint. Mustafa and his son Babar had resisted but were brutally beaten up. The school teacher reportedly fractured his leg.
The robbers managed to take gold ornaments weighing 10 tolas, AED7,000, mobiles and other valuables.
