BAHAWALPUR:

A train caught fire near Kalanchwala station in Bahawalpur on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 officials said the Karakorum Express was on its way from Karachi to Lahore when the fire erupted.

They said one of the bogies was completely destroyed and another was partially damaged.

Rescue 1122 officials said luggage carried in the bogy was also destroyed.

They said the fire erupted at 1pm due to electric short circuiting.

They said since station was closed at the time, railway officials separated the buggy from the train.

The fire was put out in two hours.

Pakistan Railways spokesman Jamshaid Alam said an inquiry committee had been formed to investigate the incident.

He said cause of the fire would be revealed after the investigation concluded.
