Terror bid averted: Two suspects arrested with 200kg of explosives

Ahmad said the vehicle was impounded and the two men in the car were shifted to an undisclosed location.

The political administration of Bajaur Agency thwarted a terrorist bid and arrested two suspected militants on Sunday.


Assistant Political Agent Sohail Ahmad said levies officials stopped a car near the Pak-Afghan border at Zalam check post and recovered explosives from the vehicle. He added that 200-metre cables used in remote-controlled bombs, 800 fuses and 200 kilogrammes of explosive were recovered from the militants.

Ahmad said the vehicle was impounded and the two men in the car were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

Meanwhile in Bannu, the Kaki police claim to have arrested two militants involved in an attack on a police team, among other terrorist acts.

Kaki police SHO Mashal Khan said they received an intelligence report about the whereabouts of two militants, Muhammad Qasim alias Abu Hamza, and his accomplice Zar Ali, residents of Kaki.  The two are said to be involved in an attack on the police in 2007 and other murder cases.

Mashal said police teams were formed for conducting the raid, in which they were subsequently arrested.
