Unhealthy eating habits: Our nails are a direct reflection of what we eat, so we must replenish them appropriately. Eating leafy green vegetables such as broccoli and spinach, eggs, carrots, as well as plenty of water will prevent your nails from getting brittle. Therefore, don’t engage in unhealthy eating, which may result in serious consequences for your nails.

Poor hygiene: Cleanliness is a must for healthy nails and poor hygiene can lead to dirty fingernails, which are home to bacteria and fungi, causing severe skin infections. Wash your hands and trim nails regularly to avoid such an issue that allows bacteria to decide the fate of your nails.

Excessive nail filing: Filling your nails occasionally is always good, however, don’t continuously file them back and forth to the point where they are hardly visible. Too much filing can ruin the texture of your nails and lead to edgy uneven tips.

Cutting your cuticles: Most of us fail to realise that when we cut our cuticles without expertise on how to go about it, we are damaging our nails. This is because our cuticles form a barrier that offer our nails protection and the best way to get rid of overgrown cuticles is by applying a cuticle remover to dissolve them.

Exposure to chemicals: When doing household chores don’t expose your nails to products, such as bleach, as this can seriously harm them and affect their growth. Therefore, one must remember to wear cotton-lined rubber gloves while washing dishes and using harsh chemicals to ensure effective and healthy nail growth.
