A spokesperson for the film said that when the Pakistan Film Censor Board saw the film that addresses the issue of human trafficking, they gave it an ‘A’ certificate too. However, they asked for seven cuts and wanted certain scenes to be blurred.
The creative team of the film felt that it was leading to loss of the essence of the narration of the movie. These changes were leading to the message of the film being distorted and the essence being diluted, the spokesperson added.
Eventually, following an internal discussion, the team decided to pull the film back from the Pakistani market.
In the film, Rani plays the role of Shivani Shivaji Roy, a rough and tough police officer. She is smart, quick at resolving puzzles and confronts hardened criminals with the ease of any male officer. Her career and personal life takes a strange turn as she involves herself with the case that involves trafficking of a girl outside the city.
The film released in India on Friday with an ‘Adult’ certification.
