Irreconcilable nationalisms : ‘India has never been interested in negotiation’

Saeed urges parties to cast their differences aside and unite for Palestine, Jammu and Kashmir

Our Correspondent August 22, 2014

LAHORE: Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) Ameer Hafiz Saeed said on Thursday that India had never been interested in negotiations and had had been cementing its control over Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

He was speaking to several delegations of JuD activists and sympathisers. Saeed urged the government to regain the trust of the people of J&K. He said the government should strive to ‘expose’ the casual attitude of the Indian government regarding the resolution of the J&K dispute.

Saeed said the United States of America, India and Israel had been conspiring against Muslims around the world. He said several Muslim countries around the world were on the brink of disintegrating because of their silence over the situation in Palestine and J&K. Saeed said India had never recognised the creation of Pakistan and had been conspiring against it since 1947. He accused India of sponsoring terrorism and creating anarchy in Pakistan.  Saeed said ‘the genocide of Muslims in J&K has gained momentum after the election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.’

He said Kashmiris considered Pakistan the foremost advocate of their cause. Saeed urged political parties to join ranks to support the Muslims of Palestine and J&K.  He said the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation had been created to protect the interests of Zionism. Saeed said Muslim countries should unite like the members of the European Union to protect their interests. He said foreign ministers of Muslim countries should revitalise the Organisation of Islamic Conference to collectively overcome the challenges confronting them.
