ISLAMABAD: President Asif Zardari invited the PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif to attend the signing ceremony of the 18th amendment bill, to be held on Monday.

Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar has confirmed the news while talking to Express.

Babar said that President Zardari called Mian Nawaz Sharif and invited him to the signing ceremony of the 18th amendment bill.

President Zardari told Nawaz that the signing of the bill will be a historic event and requested the PML-N chief to attend the ceremony. All the political leaders will be invited to the ceremony.

Babur said that Nawaz Sharif showed the same sentiment and accepted the invitation to attend the ceremony.

Mian Sharif should stop acting like a cry-baby and give credit where it is due. We all remember that he had said that no other issue would be raised if the Judges were restored! The Peoples Party has been at the receiving end of the immature media but it is this party which gave the country its Constitution and now the first major chunk of amendments made by a democratic government. Before this all amendments which defaced the Constitution were made by military dictators, duly aided and abetted by the judiciary - which now claims Snow White status!! One is tempted to ask what magical wand has wiped out its past follies for which more that a 100 million people have suffered for over half a century? We shall wait and see when the real test comes if we can forgive and forget!! Mian Sharif should have the good grace to speak out in praise of President Zardari and accept that President Zardari has acted above his own or his party's interest and only in the interest of democracy and our beloved country. Knowing Mian Sahibs past I think it is a bit too much to ask even though President Zardari has made a place for himself in history and that matters more than what his present detractors say.
