Teacher’s union representatives from Rawalpindi and the Punjab Education Department officials held a meeting over the issue of a reallocation policy on Monday in Lahore.
The Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench had directed the provincial government to revise the policy in two weeks after suspending it on July 15.
The education department had invited representatives of the teachers union on August 11 to discuss the matter but the meeting could not be held due to the political situation in the country.
It was announced by the education department that the meeting would be arranged on August 18.
Punjab Teachers Union President Raja Shahid Mubarik told The Express Tribune that their reservations over the policy were discussed with representatives of the education department. He added that they presented their demands and the department would reply within a few days.
Executive District Officer (Education) Qazi Zahoor said he was represented in the meeting by Punjab Education Department Deputy Secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Sial, adding that a decision would soon be taken over the issue.
