A Turkish delegation on Monday visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences

LAHORE: A Turkish delegation on Monday visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore to explore possibilities of collaboration in research and development in veterinary, livestock and related sectors. UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Talat Naseer Pasha gave a detailed presentation on Veterinary Education System in Pakistan. He threw light on the history of veterinary education and institutions, new initiatives in veterinary and livestock sectors and the contribution of livestock to the country’s growth. He highlighted the university’s role in providing trained manpower and services and promotion of research. Naseer said the university was executing several research projects using Rs606 million grants secured from national and international donor agencies. Earlier, Livestock and Dairy Development Department Secretary Nasim Sadiq gave a presentation on opportunities and challenges in the livestock sector in Pakistan. He said disease control, nutrition, breed improvement, human resource and value chain enhancement were among the department’s priorities.
