Showdown in faisalabad : Gang frees robber from custody

An armed group including a woman managed to free an under trial robber in broad daylight from the custody of a police party on a busy road in Faisalabad on Sunday, Daily Express reported. The Peoples Colony police was taking alleged robber Bilal Rana to Elahi Abad at the secret hideout where he had hidden the looted amount of over Rs2.5 million. However, the whole claim of the robber turned out to be a set-up and the five member police party walked straight into a trap near Ghausia Park locality. According to eyewitnesses, the armed criminals surrounded the police mobile, fired in the air and freed Rana, as policemen ducked for safety. Police cordon and pickets set up later proved to be futile. Rana was also wanted in number of other cases of robbery.
