FAISALABAD: A girl in Chak 200-RB on Sunday killed a man, who, she said, had tried to rape her. Police have taken her into custody after registering a murder case against her. Khurariawala police said Irum*, a resident of Lathianwala, killed Qasim Ali, a neighbour. Talking to reporters at the police station, Irum said, “I was home alone when Qasim jumped over the wall and tried to rape me. I grabbed an ice pick and stabbed him in self-defence.” Qasim’s brother, Ejaz, claimed that his brother had not tried to rape the girl. He said the girl’s brother, Ajmal had called the deceased to his home and murdered him with the help of his sister. The Khurarianwala SHO said that police were conducting raids to arrest Ajmal. Qasim’s body has been sent to a hospital for post mortem examination. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Muhammad Ehsan Taufail has ordered police to complete the investigation without any delay.
